Community back 'real food' enterprise with their hard cash

A shop founded on community spirit and an environmental conscience will provide local suppliers with a place to sell their goods when it is launched later this year.

The Real Food Store Exeter is expected to open on Paris Street in the city centre by December, after nearly 200 members of the community pledged to support the venture.

Just over 170 members have bought shares in the business, ranging in value from £100 to £1,000, helping generate £80,000 of the £130,000 needed to launch their store.
