Local photographers Natalie Christie and Martin Sharpe feature in our latest exhibition celebrating the beauty of rural and coastal Devon through photography. Natalie Christie captures landscape through artistic eyes, with both large and small formats of her stunning images on display. Martin Sharpe's abstract interpretations emphasise line, shape, pattern & beautiful spectrums of colour.
Natalie Christie is a Fine Art Landscape Photographer whose work encompasses the re-tracing of her childhood. Her father, Paul Raymond Noble (1947-1999), himself a painter and sculptor, inspired his daughter to 'see' the landscape through artistic eyes. Natalie re-visits the places that he took her too as a child, to capture time standing still and appreciate all that the beauty and wilderness has to offer. Natalie's image 'Early Morning Fog' (detail shown right) was shortlisted for the BBC2 production of 'Show Me the Monet' in 2012 and features in the exhibition.
Martin Sharpe is a Photographer and Digital Artist based in Exeter. Martin's design-led approach to photographic art emphasises simple elements of line, shape, pattern and colour. In recent years, this has developed into a particular focus on more abstract works. Largely self-taught, Martin recognises the visual influences of Bridget Riley and Mark Rothko on his approach. Frequently, his pictures show interpretations of event-straplines, song-titles or common phrases.
