Anna Britten visits the community-owned shop going from strength to strength under the leadership of seriously driven women.

It's a sign of how sceptical we've all become about shopping that I feel the need to ask Lois Gallimore, co-manager of The Real Food Store, whether the amazing fresh bread aroma that hits me as I enter the shop is real or not.

Luckily, she's not offended. It's real, she confirms. And I should smell the place when the brownies come out of the oven.
